I'm not saying I love Anne Geddes's photos. I'm just saying I understand.

Look, babies are just really cute. They're cute sitting around, cute naked, cute in diapers, etc. Given that a parent is obligated to dress them, one can't be blamed for getting a pretty intense desire to dress them in adorable clothes. Moreover, babies make everything around them slightly more wonderful, and I feel that it's a natural extension of this temptation that leads otherwise rational people to place babies in progressively more ridiculous outfits and bizarre scenarios.

Boring. Not Violet.
Boring. Not Violet.
Boring. Not Violet.

On a completely unrelated note, we took the following amazing pictures of Violet a couple of months ago.

Just a few from Angela's birthday from Nonnie

On snoozing and squeeking

Here are pictures of Violet doing what she should be doing AT NIGHT. Sleeping! Do you hear me, Vi!?! Take pity on your poor mother!

Just when I start to pretend to be frustrated, she talks to us like this, and my little grinch heart grows three sizes.

If we can hack it, we may be starting a little sleep training in the next few days. Wish us luck.

Soundtrack

Some people sing kids' songs to their kids. Violet has been giving us crap about the songs we sing her, and she insisted on a post revealing the aural abuse she suffers at home.

Miracle Blanket. When we need it, we sing this.

We stay out too late. Violet says this.

And for those of you wondering about the url we chose, this song is one of our favorites. Don't get too into the meaning or you'll get depressed, but it's a perfect, heartfelt, wonderful song.

Morning smiles before work

So I went back to work last week, which was incredibly hard. The only thing that has made it easier is having my mom in Ann Arbor to take care of Vi for the month. Ted had said going back was really hard but that being away did make the times together that much sweeter. And he was definitely right. Here are a few photos from this morning before I left for work.

Wind that crank, kid!

Lest we give anyone the impression that we are raising a baby that is always smiling and happy, we thought it important to share that this kid is serious. And sometimes seriously pissed off. While grabbing the camera isn't often our first response, there is no shortage of the following pictures. The last one has a special place in our hearts at the moment. Our little skeptic.

Farmers' Market and Pool Party

Angela's folks have been here for the last week, and Sarah, God bless her, is staying for another few weeks to watch Violet while Angela gets back to work (boooo!!).

For his last day in town, we all went down to the Farmers Market in Kerrytown, made some pizzas, and took a dip in the ol' above ground pool (fair warning, dear reader, I have not become more in-shape, less pale, or less hairy than whenever it was that you last saw me).

Happy birthday Ted!

Ted had a birthday this week and we were so happy to celebrate another year of him on this planet. Here he is with two of his favorite things: Violet and a nice cold beer at Common Grill.
