Updates

We've been a bit behind on the blog lately, so here's the updates we have neglected. Fair warning, this might be slow sledding if you're anyone other than her grandmother.
- Violet's doing quite a bit better with solid foods. Turns out she just likes whatever we're eating. Organic pureed apples? No dice. Spicy corn chowder with shrimp and peppers? Liked it a lot.
- Teeth! She's got two lower incisors. Careful what goes in that mouth as it will get incised.
- She's generally pretty serious, but she's got a smile for you if you're willing to work for it. Additionally, she goes through bouts of being very chatty. I'll paste links to a couple of videos below.
- Balance is getting better, and she can pretty much sit independently without an issue. She does some great oscillating if you hold her up to standing.
- I told you this was pretty boring, and yet here you are! I really underestimated you.
- Daycare is still going well, but apparently, she assaulted Mateo today. She's a lady, so she did apologize.
- She's not one to sit and cuddle unless she's really exhausted, but she would like to scratch and pinch your face just a little bit thankyouverymuch.
- Sleeps like a champ, 11 hours most nights. Sleep training is TOTALLY WORTH IT.
- Apparently has an intermittently blocked left tear duct. Occasionally gets a crazy goopy eyeball. As you might expect, we find this sad but very cute.

Hey now, that wasn't quite as bad as it could have been, right? Wake up! Alright. Now watch these long videos of our kid acting age-appropriate. She's amazing! Right?!

Grandma, Grandpa visit!

We had a terrific weekend with Angela's parents, and while the weather didn't really allow for much stuff outside, we had a very nice time lounging and enjoying their company. They are wonderful to us, and we hope that they come back soon.

An evening with Nonnie

Ted and I rarely can muster up enough enthusiasm to leave Violet. She's just so much fun to be around and she goes to bed at 7, giving us plenty of time to ourselves. The rare times we do, her Nonnie has been so kind to babysit. Last night we spent the evening with some friends and Violet enjoyed some quality time with her Non. Never one to miss a good photo op, Nonnie brought pearls :) It's so nice to be close to family (especially amazing family that is willing to babysit)and not worry for one second while we are away from her. Thanks Nonnie!

Time Flies. Part 2

“When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to hear '27 months.' 'He's two' will do just fine. He's not a cheese. And I didn't really care in the first place.”  -George Carlin

Time Flies. Part 1.

This past six months has definitely been the fastest of my life. Vi is growing up so quickly. It's crazy. In some ways I can't remember my life without her. And in some ways I feel like she just arrived. But either way, this world is so much more wonderful with her in it.

Six Month Doctor's Visit

This past week Violet had her six month well child checkup. Everything went very well but it seems like her immunizations (including the flu, woohoo!) were a little harder on her this time. She was definitely fussier (which wasn't all bad as this means she's a little clingier than usual, which is nice for me)and the next day at daycare she had a low grade fever. Thankfully none of that stuck around for more than 24 hours and now she is back to being her usual happy self.

Her stats:
Weight 7.3kg (16lbs, 1.5oz): 48th percentile
Length 69cm (27 1/4 inches): 91st percentile
Head Circumference 43.6cm: 84th percentile
Overall lovability: >99th percentile

She's started rolling from back to front which is fun. Not so fun is when she wakes herself in the middle of the night because she has flopped over and think's she's stuck. She seems to be more vocal on a daily basis which is a sheer delight. Her laugh is infectious. She's a tremendous sleeper. I think she gets more beautiful every day. We could not love her more.
