Winter and Stuff

It's been a wonderful winter, but it's been busy. We did go sledding with Annie and her kids and once also at my folks' place with the whole clan. The remainder of these are just little rays of sunshine for me to enjoy when I'm old(er).

Edie and Nonnie

My grandmother, Edith, was a pretty remarkable woman, and I think most would agree, a bit of a ham. To our family, she was Nonnie. My mother would argue that her grandmother was the "Real" Nonnie, but there's a lot of fake news out there these days. I say Edith was as authentic as they get.

Anyway, my grandmother was the sole Edith in the family until our Edie arrived, and even now when I hear someone in our family talking about Edie, I spend a split second saying to myself very quickly "Nonnie? Wait, no. They're almost certainly talking the baby at this point." As fate would have it, she is also a bit of a ham.

SO! Now that my mother is now Nonnie, seeing Edie in Nonnie's arms makes my brain tingle in an extremely pleasant way. These particular pictures will be some of my favorites until the day I die.

Quotes

We haven't written down nearly enough of the cute things that Violet has said in the last 6 months, but we've recorded a few. I feel like this post is getting a little long, so I'll post it and hopefully start a new one.

Violet's crying because she's tired. I take her to her room, lie her down on the changing table, and say, "Violet, tell me what's the matter." She sups then says, "Because I'm not Spider Man, I'm Princess Leia!!!"

Angela says, "Do you want a hot dog?"
Violet says, "Yes."
Angela says, "Then put on your shoes. Only girls with shoes on get hot dogs."

Angela and Ted having a lovely conversation at dinner.
Violet "stop talking!"
Angela "That's not a nice thing to say Violet"
Violet "stop talking, PLEASE!"

Violet (sick) "I have a cough in my nose"

We arrive home from being out to dinner, where Violet doesn't eat anything. For some reason or another, I had promised her ice cream so she proceeds to eat two small scoops in teeny tiny little bites. After finishing, says, "I would like a piece of cake, please!"

Violet "I'm going to visit Casey!" "Oh,where does Casey live?" "China!"

Violet, standing in the living room in a diaper and nothing else, "I have no shirt, no pants, no socks, no shoes, no hat, no mittens, and no appetite for dinner!"

Jill (one of Violet's teachers): Violet, who made you so cute!
Violet: My mama
Jill: Well, I'm pretty sure that Dr. Ted had something to do with it.
Violet: Daddy! Do you even know who my mama is?

Ted is talking to Violet about her friends at daycare and which of them she thinks are nice. For the record, they're all quite nice.
Ted "Maddie?" Violet "She's very nice"
Ted "Avery?" Violet "She's a little nice. She's nice some of the time."
Ted "Ben?" Violet "He's not nice."
Ted "Oliver?" Violet "He's Darth Vader."
Ted "Oh, I see. So he's very nice, yes?" Violet "Yes!"
