First Day of Paternity Leave/2nd Doctor Visit

We were all pretty excited for my paternity leave to finally start on Monday. We had a big morning, including her two week weight check doctor's visit, trying out a new breakfast spot, and rounding out the morning with a trip to Costco. Violet was her usual sleepy/happy self through all of our errands and we got lots of love from random strangers everywhere we went.

Doctor Visit stats: weight is back to 8 lb, 6 oz which was birth weight (52nd %ile). Length is 21.75" (96th %ile). Head circumference 36.8 cm (88th %ile).

We ended up sheltering in the basement for a couple of hours during a thunderstorm that included a tornado warning (see family selfie, naturally). The storm was excellent, as were the West Wing reruns we watched. Nearby Ann Arborites with giant downed trees in their bedrooms were less pleased. No good pictures of the storm, but Angela did post one on Facebook of me wading down our street in my rubber boots. Like a boss.

Happy toga baby in repose

Le Dog

Cabin fever is kind of an insidious little devil, but I'll be darned if you'll catch that son of a gun in this house. Today, we made it out to a lunch place here called Le Dog. Yes, they serve hot dogs, but fortunately, I have Angela here to let me know that only a FOOL would order anything but the soup. Angela had lobster bisque and I had the tortilla soup. And it was wonderful indeed.  If I ever go by myself, I'll be getting a chili dog and regretting it.

Also included is a video of Violet being cute, because that's what we're all really here for.

It's all so exciting, I just had to close my eyes.

Violet rocked some old man pants up to the chest like it was no big deal.

Mother's Day

We had a lovely day on Sunday, celebrating Mother's Day with Ted's family. The guys made a ridiculous spread of Mexican food and Violet and I finally got to meet her new cousin Vivian. As expected, she is beautiful and perfect. They were lovely together. We apparently took very few pictures so all of these are stolen from Liz (thanks!).
Jess is very photogenic

Right? So photogenic.

How cute is this picture of Non and Vi?

Lazy Days

Angela has been doing an amazing job with Violet in these first two weeks. Included in this statement is the fact that the baby remains well fed and documented. We're all looking forward to the start of my paternity leave which starts tomorrow. Sadly, reader, this means that there will likely be more pictures of me in the background, ruining otherwise perfectly good photos of Violet. As evidence, see the last picture here.

Loving this amazingly soft blanket that Grandma Sarah knit for me.

Kisses (VIDEO)

This is clearly what she does when she's hungry, and while we worry just a little bit that we're being mean, it's pretty freakin' cute.
