Minnesota!

Last weekend we were in Minnesota to visit friends, and it could not have been better. We ate wonderful food, shared terrific company, and travelled uneventfully.

Violet did okay for being sick. She really didn't cry much on the planes, but she did manage to come down with conjunctivitis and a little bit of the loose poops. We are very much hoping that we didn't get anyone else sick, especially in light of the fact that they were, to a person, WONDERFUL to us.

One of the best events of the weekend was introducing Vi to DOGS!! She loved Gus and Tilly, and I'm told there was much giggling.

For our part, we're back in the swing of things. Except Violet, who's regressed substantially with regard to sleeping. We imagine that she's saying, "Are we back home now? Should I go to sleep? Mom? Mom? I'll just keep yelling until I'm sure? Mom! Mom! Momma! You don't have to answer me, but I'll check back in in five minutes. And ten minutes. And hourly until dawn."

And now, here are many pictures.

Five months old

So I've been a bit delinquent with her monthly updates but life happens, ok? As such, this post encompasses the 4-5 month period.

Likes: putting her hands (although now more her feet) in her mouth, tripod-ing, standing, talking loudly to herself when she wakes up first thing in the morning, funny sounds, her rattle, sleeping through the night (wooohoooo!), her exersaucer, the outdoors, EATING. A LOT.

Dislikes: Having to wait even a little bit to eat. Otherwise not much. For a while after we got back from Canada she seemed to not like being in the car seat as much but we have since gotten over that. Thank goodness.

A week of firsts

This past week was a week of firsts for Violet. She got her first cold, which she was a total trooper about. I promise we are not delinquent parents letting her nose run all over the place. She was actually playing quite happily in her exersaucer and when I went over to get her, this is how I found her. The cold did seem to disrupt her sleep a bit but didn't seem to bother her at all during the day. And after the first few nights, she was right back to sleeping through the night again.
We also started a few solids this past week. So far she has had some single grain oatmeal, some avocado and some banana. I wouldn't say she loves any of it so far. She mainly likes playing with the food in her mouth and gets down a VERY small percentage of the stuff.
She also has started holding the bottle on her own when Ted feeds her. So cute.

Family picture day from Nonnie and Papa

The kids gave us a picture day for our anniversary.  Even if the photographer failed to get one good photo, it was a wonderful gift, and we enjoyed every minute of a picture perfect day.
